The Beach

Yesterday we headed down to Galveston Beach for the day. My sister-in-law's family rents a condo every summer and invited us down for the day to hang out with them. We were excited about this because Aidan has never been to the beach before.

This particular part of the beach was fantastic! The condo was right on the beach, which made that part almost private. It was the cleanest, nicest part of Galveston I have seen, which is saying a lot. Let's face it, Galveston is not the nicest of beaches. Anyway, we got there in time to grab a bite for lunch and then hang on the beach, while my brother, his wife and her family were out for lunch. They met up with us around 2 and we stayed out there until about 5 or so. The rest of the time, we were cleaning up in their condo and the men were grilling us up some steak and salmon (Yum).

Now, back to Aidan's first experience on the beach. Because I know my child, I knew it would take a while for him to adjust to the sand and the water. For the first hour or so, he just wanted to stay on the blanket and play in the sand right next to the blanket. Getting sand on his feet was not an option. He eventually warmed up to it and really liked the part of the beach where you could sit on the wet sand as a little bit of water would rush over your legs. Then he got brave and started to get in the water and jump over the waves as they came in. We brought him out into the ocean, but he started to get tired and started to have some issues with his eyes when a wave got his face. My poor sensitive child. The rest of the time on the beach was spent on my lap under the umbrella, half the time eating strawberries and the other half dozing. He became his jolly self again when we were up at the condo out of the sun, eating goldfish and lounging with his cousins, Alyx and Kaetlyn.

All in all, we had a good time and Aidan seemed to like it. We headed home around 8 pm, with Aidan conked out, Chris and I tired and Chris pretty badly sunburned. Oops. I tried to take some pictures, but ended up only taking a few. Oh well, I had good intentions.
