Lamar Vs. McNeese

The very first Lamar University game was away, in Lake Charles. Chris and I both went to Lamar and were big fans of the basketball team, especially since we did not have a football team when we attended. Well, that has changed and we have season tickets to prove it!! :) Anyway, we deemed Lake Charles close enough to go and do a little road trip with Carrie and Justin and Cody and Julia. All the kiddos stayed back in Beaumont. So, it was an adult evening out! Woo hoo!

We had a blast. We drove in early enough to eat at Steamboat Bill's ( a famous Cajun seafood joint - YUM!!) and then headed to the game. It was so exciting! Here are some pictures:

They had fireworks for us to enjoy, which was really a pretty good show!




The game was an exciting one, with both teams taking turns with leading. It ended really close with McNeese ahead 30 and Lamar 27. Even though we lost, we were thrilled. I mean, honestly? The very first game back after 21 years and we almost beat McNeese, who is number 11 in the FCS division. We will take it!! :) This certainly was a great start to the season!

It was neat when after the game during some other adventures, those who saw us in our shirts asked us about the game. They were very interested and excited about how well we did at our first game back.
