Last Wednesday we went in and had our ultrasound done. That day was making me very nervous. I honestly believed that we were having another little boy, but I was very nervous about still being disappointed, knowing that we were not desiring any more children.
We dropped the boys off at our friend's house and headed to the Doctor's office early in the morning. We got there and waited and waited for the machine to warm up. Why did they want us to get there 15 minutes early? Seriously.
The ultrasound itself took about 35 minutes, which was a long wait, because she did not tell us until the very end. She got a quick glimpse in the beginning, but wanted to make sure . . . the baby was not being cooperative. :)
She finally got all the measurements, had me lay on my side and then switch around, and froze the screen on one shot. She asked us what we saw. Chris and I looked at the screen, looked at each other and then told her that she better tell us. She told us that it is a . . .
Girl!
WHAT!? I was shocked! I had convinced myself that this baby was a boy and was completely blown away. At one point she asked me if I was okay because I had started crying, but was trying to hold it in. I honestly don't think she knew if I was happy or sad. I was SHOCKED!!
Then, everything sunk in. I told Chris that if we had tried to "plan" this pregnancy like the other two, we would be having a boy. God's humor and all.
Earlier this week Aidan had picked out a little monkey (for boy) and a little pink elephant (for girl). The idea was that we would find out and then wrap whichever one it was for the boys to open. That would be our way of telling them. Aidan was so excited that morning to find out. It was the first thing he said when he woke up and he kept mentioning it on the way over to Kendra's house that morning. Really cute! But I was worried because he had been wanting a little sister this whole time. In fact, he was to the point of getting angry about the possibility of "another" brother. I was convinced it was a boy and so the day before I had a discussion with him of how neat it would be to have another brother. I evidently convinced him so much that when they opened up the pink elephant, Aidan was disappointed. What!? The only thing I could do was laugh. He quickly got over it and is back to being excited about having a baby sister.
Lily Kathryn is her name. We love the name Lily and Kathryn is after Chris' mom. We love it and the boys love it too. They have started calling my belly "Lily".
When Chris headed to the office that morning after the ultrasound, he mentioned how he needed to get to work so we could start saving for the wedding. :) I guess the men automatically start thinking about the finances. Funny.

Summer Misc.
I can't believe how busy we have all been here this summer. My boys and I have only made it to the pool twice! That is evidence enough!
However, one of my last trips is about to happen tonight. I am going to the Willow House Convention in Atlanta and am so excited! This adventure begins and ends with a road trip - I love those!! Hey, no kids involved. :) We will be leaving just after midnight tonight so please pray for safety. I AM SO EXCITED!!
We celebrated Aidan's 5th birthday this past weekend. It is so hard to believe he is already 5! His birthday party was held at a local skating rink, which was quite humorous considering we were inviting both older and younger kids to this event. I think everyone had a great time and Aidan had a blast - which is all that mattered to me. Thank you everyone for celebrating this special birthday with us!!
This pregnancy is going really well, considering. I am officially into the 2nd trimester and my energy is back up, but with running around after two kids, I wouldn't say that I am never tired. :) I have had some slight nausea with this pregnancy and I feel that I am carrying differently and craving different things. That being said, I still believe that we are having a boy. We WILL be finding out towards the end of next month though. So, I will post the results here.
We are starting the process of getting things done to our house in order to put it on the market quickly after the baby comes. We are growing out of our little house and silly Aidan is begging for a house with stairs. I think that is pretty funny. We have done some work painting some trim and getting some of our front beds in shape. Next on the agenda will be to tackle the kitchen. I have some dear friends who have offered up their assistance with this. We will be re-painting the cabinets, replacing the hardware and counter tops and then painting the kitchen a more neutral color than the vividly sponge painted yellow that it is. I am excited about getting to enjoy this for a few months before we move. :)
Wish us luck!

Big News!
Most of you probably heard through the grapevine, but I thought I would make it official here . . . we are pregnant!
Baby Rucker #3 is due early January and has come as a surprise to us, which is a new experience. We are happy and are working on getting excited. Either way, we feel truly blessed.
So far things are going well and I am not feeling sick or any more tired (than normal :) Tomorrow is my first doctor's appointment, at the new doctor since our insurance has changed. It is just for blood work and paper work, but the process will be starting. WOW.

I'm Exhasted!
Do you want to know why I am exhausted and it is only lunchtime? Let me fill you in on the details of my morning.
A few weeks ago Chris and I took Aidan for his second 6 month check-up at the dentist. What we found out shocked me. Aidan has at least 4 cavities. WHAT?! Yes. I think I was more surprised because the last appointment he had 2. We brush his teeth every morning and night and are really careful about getting all over. I felt/feel like a horrible mommy because one thing we haven't been doing is flossing.
Dear friends who read this and have small kids - buy those flossing pick things and FLOSS YOUR KIDS TEETH!! Learn from our lesson.
So, we scheduled his appointment to get his fillings for this morning. I woke up at 4:45 am to shower and make sure Aidan got his Tylenol with Codeine at 5 am since his appointment was at 7. He went back to sleep, I made some coffee and finished my bible study. At 6:30 I woke both boys up to get dressed. Chris had a Hearing this morning and couldn't stay home to watch Logan, but my plan was to go straight to Bible Study after his appointment anyway. On a side not, the last 2 fillings went quickly and smoothly. High hopes, right?
We got there fine and they loaded up a movie for Logan in the waiting area and then took Aidan back. I stayed with Logan (I think my first mistake). I could hear some of what was going on . . . lets just say that they were having some difficulty with Aidan being stubborn and dealing with his gag reflex.
Oh boy.
After about 20 minutes, the Dr. comes and brings me back. Evidently Aidan had such a gag reflex that he was only able to get one set of x-rays, on the bad side of his mouth, but that was it. Aidan ended up throwing up a little from being nauseous with the medicines and the gagging. He informed me that Aidan was all numb, but that is where they will have to stop. I looked over at Aidan and knew right away they were right. He looked pale and did NOT look happy at all! In fact, it looked as though he was MAD at the world. Gulp.
I bent down and tried to talk to him, but he would not even open his mouth the tiniest bit for me to even look at his teeth. All that trouble and pain with the shots for nothing. Trying to explain this to him did no good - he has that stubborn gene from . . . well, you know. :)
We spent the next 15 minutes with Aidan hanging over the toilet and me discussing our options with the Dentist. So, we have a consult with a Pediatric Dentist on Friday where they very well may have to put him out to get things done.
It looks as though Aidan will have at least 3 fillings and one tooth extraction. Um . . . all for a 4-year-old!
My mom tells me I had horrible issues with my baby teeth too. Joy. Doesn't make me feel better.
I am taking the rest of the day off feeling sorry for Aidan and feeling like a very pitiful excuse for a mom whose child has to get major work done in his 4-year-old mouth. Don't worry . . . I will be able to re-focus and move on in a few hours. This is how I work. :)
Wish us luck.

It's March? And, it is already almost over?!
It is hard to believe that I have fallen so far off the wagon with this blog. I blame my camera loss and facebook. :) I have gotten lazy and started putting mobile pictures onto my facebook page. So, for those that want an update on things that are going on in our lives and you are not a member of facebook - sorry!
Spring Break came and went in a total blur last week. Aidan got a random virus that kept us home from Monday til Sunday. The only symptom was a fever, and it was a high one at that. Wednesday night it actually got to 104! Thankfully medicine brought it back down and except for mild queasiness every now and then and a little fatigue, he acted fine. We did go in the backyard and play with our new toys when he felt up to it. Let's face it. It was gorgeous weather and we needed the sun! :)
We celebrated Logan's 2nd birthday on March 5th with 3 parties. Yes, I said 3 parties. We had a mini play day with a few friends on that Friday, had a family birthday party in Beaumont on Sunday and then celebrated again the following weekend jointly with my mom's and Kati's birthday. The theme this year was Curious George and I had fun with the cup cakes and cake decorating. What a blast we had and Logan of course got spoiled by his family and friends. Thank you everyone for making it so special!
I have to admit this year's birthday present from us is really a combined gift meant for both boys. We decided we needed something outside to assist in getting all the energy out of our rascals. What's best for this? An 8 foot trampoline! The boys love it and are both really good at it. Cheering them on from my seat under the covered patio has become my favorite thing to do. :)
This month also started a new sport in the Rucker household. Aidan began his first season of T-ball and is really good at it thus far. He is so athletic! Unfortunately, this year I will not be spending much time at that games and practices because Logan is old enough and athletic enough that it is a battle to keep him from running right in the middle of things. I think we are going to be kept VERY busy with our two little athletic guys in the future.
Until next time . . . whenever that may be.

Snow?
Nah! I have to admit I am a little disappointed. The roads are horrible though with all the ice and thankfully Chris does not have to go in until noon, but he may get a call before. We will see. Going in at noon? What's the point? He should just stay and work from home for the day.
So, we got all prepared with a ton of firewood and what happens? Our lighters ran out of fluid! HA! Chris stayed home this morning, but headed out to the store to pick up some new ones. Thankfully we have several stores just outside our neighborhood!
I hope everyone else is safe and warm. And, for those of you who have been so disappointed with me and my not keeping up with the blog, I am hopefully back. My camera breaking right before Christmas did not help matters!

Blah!
I am just so tired today. It doesn't help that I have not been getting enough sleep for about 2 weeks. And, yesterday Aidan came down with the same stomach bug Logan had last week. No good. No good at all - especially going into a weekend where he was supposed to be going to his End of season Soccer party and the last Lamar Football game. Aghh!! Oh well. We will have to see how he is feeling in the morning.
Hopefully Chris and I don't get it next . . . like next week during Thanksgiving. It seems to be lasting a few days, so that would be a little awful. Say some prayers!
